Mini Splits

Expert Mini-Split Installation and Service

What is a Mini-Split System?

A mini-split system is a highly efficient heating and cooling solution that allows you to control the temperature in specific rooms or spaces independently. This makes it an ideal choice for homes or spaces where targeted climate control is important.

How Does a Mini-Split Work?

Mini-splits consist of two main parts:

  • An outdoor compressor/condenser
  • An indoor air-handling unit (evaporator)

Installation is straightforward, typically requiring just a small, 3-inch hole through the wall to connect the indoor and outdoor units. The conduit passing through this hole contains power, communication cables, copper tubing, and a drainage line for condensation.

Mini-split heat pumps are great options for whole-home installations, new constructions, or as retrofit additions for homes with non-ducted heating systems. They are also perfect for room additions where extending or installing ductwork is impractical, as well as energy-efficient homes or small spaces like garages, sheds, cellars, or pool houses.

Mini-Splits vs. Central Air

One of the key advantages of mini-split systems over central air is that they have minimal or no ductwork, which reduces energy losses. In fact, ductwork in central air systems can result in up to 30% energy loss, especially when installed in unconditioned spaces like attics or basements. By eliminating this inefficiency, mini-splits provide a more energy-efficient solution for your heating and cooling needs.
